Lab 6_2 Temperature Conversion (10 points)

• You can convert from degrees celcius to Fahrenheit by using the following formula:

degrees Celcius * 9/5 + 32

• Create a program that allows the user to enter a floating point value for degrees Celcius, and then convert that number to Fahrenheit and display back to the screen

If you have two fractions a/b and c/d, their sum can be obtained with the formula:

a/b + c/d = a * d + b * c / b * d

• Write a program that allows the user to enter two fractions, and then displays their sum as a fraction. (You don't need to reduce it to lowest terms). Your program might look something like this:

  Enter the first fraction: 1/2

  Enter the second fraction 2/5

  Sum = 9/10

  IMPORTANT! The cin operator can be chained to let you read in more than one value at a time:

  cin >> a >> dummychar >> b;

Lab 6-5 (Extra Credit)

• This lab is from DDC Publishing's Learning Programming Fundamentals with C++
• The fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which the first two numbers are 0 and 1. Each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two. So, the third fibonacci number is (0 + 1) = 1. The next is (1 + 1) = 2. Then (1 + 2) = 3. Then (3 + 2) = 5. And so on. The fibonacci sequence has many interesting mathematical properties, and shows up in surprising places in nature (Ask your math teacher!)

Part A

• Write a program that uses a for loop to print the first 20 fibonacci numbers. Remember that the first two (known as f0 and f1) are pre-defined as 0 and 1. All the subsequent numbers are calculated from there. Label this program Lab 6-5 part A.
• Print the program with an example of your ouput (10 points)

Part B

• Modify your solution to #4 so that the sequence number is printed out next to the fibonacci value. Make sure that sequence numbers 0 and 1 match up with the first two predefined values. Your output should look like this:

0: 0
1: 1

2: 1

3: 2

4: 3
5: 5

6: 8

7: 13

etc.

• Print your solution with the sample of your output (5 points)

Part C

• Modify your fibonacci program from Part B to calculate only the first 10 fibonacci numbers. Instead of printing the value of the number, though, use a nested for loop ( a for loop inside a for loop) to print a row of asterisks (*) whose length is the current fibonacci number.
• Print your solution with the sample output (10 points)

Part D

• Modify the program from Part C to allow the user to select how many fibonacci numbers to calculate. (5 points)

Lab 6-6 (Extra Credit)

• Make a program that uses a for loop to print out the first 16 multiples of then number 2 and the first 16 powers of 2
• Print your program and its output (10 points)
• Modify the program so that the user is allowed to select the number for calculations (i.e., calculate multiples of 3, 4, or 5, for example) (5 points)
